Robert Christie has become one of the best known dog and sporting artists in the south. Intending on studying veterinary medicine his passion for art proved stronger. He studied fine art at Ohio Wesleyan and later at the Pratt Institute in New York. The focus of his early work was painting portraits and this gradually expanded to include equestrian portraits. A publisher in New York impressed by his considerable talent asked him to do a series of hunting dog paintings for his print market. That’s when Bob got “bitten” by the dog, and he has been painting them ever since. Along with painting, he has spent over twenty years training, field training, hunt testing and showing his German shorthairs.
